Louise Baker

Louise Baker has a diverse work experience spanning several international organizations. Louise has worked at the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) as the Managing Director of the Global Mechanism, where they managed a team supporting national target setting and project development. Louise was also responsible for leading innovative financing and resource mobilization for land degradation neutrality. Prior to that, Louise was the Coordinator for External Relations and Policy at UNCCD, where they coordinated a team focusing on the link between environment, development, and sustainable land management.

Before joining UNCCD, Louise worked at the World Health Organization (WHO) as an Adviser for the Tobacco Free Initiative and as a Senior Strategist for the Stop TB Partnership. Louise also served as an External Relations Officer for Immunization and Vaccine Development at WHO. Earlier in their career, they were the Head of Public Affairs at EveryChild and worked at the European Parliament as the Head of Office and Parliamentary Assistant, focusing on foreign, defence, and development policy issues. Overall, Louise Baker has a strong background in international organizations, policy coordination, and strategic management.

Louise Baker completed their Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Illinois Wesleyan University from 1992 to 1993. Following this, they pursued their degree in Politics with a specialization in International Relations at The University of Sheffield from 1991 to 1994. Later, in 1996 and 1997, they attended the College of Europe, where they obtained a degree in Public Administration with a focus on Politics and Development.
