Asher Lessels is an experienced professional in climate mitigation and technology, currently serving as the Head of the GEF Climate Mitigation Unit and Task Manager at the UN Environment Programme since October 2018. Prior experience includes roles as a Programme Officer and Associate Programme Officer focused on Climate Technology and Strategic Planning at UNFCCC from 2012 to 2018, as well as a Consultant specializing in Climate Finance. Additional experience encompasses business development consulting at OMC International and engineering positions at Robert Bird Group, AHFsa Structural Engineers, and Bonacci Group. Asher Lessels holds a Master’s Degree in International Negotiations and Relations from Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, and two Bachelor’s Degrees in Civil Engineering and Applied Mathematics from the University of Melbourne.
