Binaya Raj Shivakoti

Binaya Raj Shivakoti is an experienced environmental professional currently serving as the Coordinating Lead Author for the 7th Global Environment Outlook at the UN Environment Programme since March 2023. Shivakoti has held various roles at the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) since April 2010, including Senior Water and Adaptation Specialist and Water Resources Specialist. Previously, Binaya Raj Shivakoti was the Coordinating Lead Author for the 6th Global Environmental Outlook's Regional Assessment of Asia and the Pacific from March 2015 to May 2016 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Kyoto University from October 2007 to March 2010. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Engineering in Urban and Environmental Engineering from Kyoto University, a Master's Degree in Agriculture Systems and Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture (Economics Elective) from Tribhuvan University.
