Katrina Borromeo

Katrina Borromeo is an experienced professional in communications, program management, and advocacy, currently serving as the REDD+ Knowledge and Advocacy Coordinator and Programme Management Officer for UN Environment Programme since June 2021. In this role, Katrina leads national campaigns against forest crime across five lower Mekong countries and China, while also innovating with AI technology for resource mobilization. Prior experience includes serving as a Programme Specialist at United Nations Volunteers, where Katrina developed policy outreach for sustainable development goals through a pioneering volunteerism data portal, and as Head of Communications at ICLEI, where effective global communication strategies and major event campaigns were designed and implemented. Katrina's educational background includes a Master's degree in Social Sciences from the University of Freiburg and a Bachelor's degree in Development Communication from the University of the Philippines.
