Chief: Policy, Legislation And Governance Section at UN-Habitat

Remy Sietchiping has a diverse work experience in various organizations. Remy started their career as a Lecturer (GIS) in the University of the West Indies from August 2002 to July 2004. Remy then worked as a GIS Officer at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa from February 2005 to August 2005, where they managed research projects, prepared reports, and developed addressing strategies. Remy also worked as a Strategic Resource Analyst and Research Scientist at the Victorian Department of Primary Industries from December 2005 to January 2007.

Since February 2007, Remy has been involved with UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), where they held several roles. Remy started as a Project Leader from February 2007 to October 2013, before becoming the Leader of Regional and Metropolitan Planning from November 2013 to December 2019. In this position, they oversaw projects on urban planning, infrastructure development, and urban health. Currently, Remy serves as the Chief of the Policy, Legislation, and Governance Section, leading the development of methodologies, norms, tools, and standards in urban policy and governance. Remy also provides policy and technical advice to support the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda. Throughout their career, Remy has managed teams, developed strategies, and established partnerships in various countries and organizations.

Remy Sietchiping holds a PhD in Geography from the University of Melbourne, obtained from 1999 to 2004. Remy also completed their Master's degree in Geography at the University of Yaounde, Cameroon, from 1989 to 2007. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Geography and Law from the same university, from 1989 to 1992.
