Awa Ndiaye-Seck

Special Representative at UN Women

Awa Ndiaye-Seck serves as the Special Representative of the UN Women Executive Director on the African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) since February 2014 and is also a Special Representative to the African Union Commission and the Economic Commission for Africa. Prior to this role, Awa held several significant positions at UNDP, including Resident Representative and Crisis Prevention and Recovery Regional Practice Coordinator. Awa has extensive experience in governance and gender equality, having worked as a Senior Gender Advisor for UNDP Burundi and as Governance Advisor for the United Nations Integrated Office in Burundi. Awa's earlier career included roles at the Ministry of Interior of Senegal, where responsibilities encompassed electoral management, and at USAID, focusing on decentralization and local governance in Senegal. Awa holds an MBA from Southern Illinois University and a Maitrise in Public Law from Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar, among other qualifications.
