UNC Children's
As a top-tier academic medical center, UNC Children's upholds a four-tiered mission to "CARE," aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education to deliver world-class family-centered care—always regardless of a family's ability to pay. If and when you need us, we're at the ready. Our nearly 200 physicians are clinical and research faculty of the UNC School of Medicine, their medical expertise spanning nearly 50 programs in the School of Medicine's 20 clinical departments, including 14 divisions in the UNC Department of Pediatrics. They are joined by more than 1,800 clinical and ancillary staff, all dedicated to providing exemplary, compassionate care to the thousands of children we treat each year. UNC Children's clinical home, N.C. Children's Hospital, is a major referral center for children with complex conditions and consistently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of "America's Best Children's Hospitals" on its annual list. N.C. Children’s Hospital has 150 inpatient beds and a comprehensive children's outpatient center located in the same building, enabling your child to see multiple specialists in a single visit. Our physicians work hand-in-hand with community hospitals and pediatricians all across the state, providing specialty care to more than 70,000 children from all 100 counties in North Carolina each year. And because many of our patients have conditions that cause frequent or long-term hospital stays, we know just how important it is for a kid to "just be a kid," especially when they're not feeling their best. That's why we offer so many child-friendly amenities and offer private patient rooms equipped to serve as a “home away from home” for children and families when they need it most.
