Melissa Miller, PhD, D(ABMM), FAAM, FIDSA, serves as the James D. Folds Distinguished Professor and holds various ranks in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill since July 2004. In addition to academic roles, Melissa Miller is the Director of the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory and the Clinical Molecular Microbiology Laboratory, as well as the Associate Director of the Clinical Microbiology-Immunology Laboratory at UNC Health Care. Educational achievements include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology from Princeton University and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Medical Technology from Jacksonville University, alongside a Post-doctoral Fellowship in Medical and Public Health Microbiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
