Penny Toren currently serves as the Chief Regulatory and Quality Officer at Uncommon Cures® since November 2024. Previously, Penny held several key positions in regulatory affairs, including Regulatory Strategic Advisor and Senior Vice President Regulatory Affairs at ENDPOINT HEALTH from 2022 to December 2024, and SVP Regulatory Affairs & Program Management at Vallon Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from April 2018 to May 2022. Additional experience includes a Director role in Regulatory Affairs at TEVA Global Branded Products from November 2003 to February 2018, and Associate Director of Regulatory Affairs at AstraZeneca from 1999 to 2003. Penny's earlier career features positions in clinical research at GSK and Hurley Consulting Associates Ltd, and a role as Senior Research Chemist at Unilever. Educational qualifications include a BA in Chemistry and Biology from Florida Atlantic University, an MS in Biostatistics and Epidemiology from New York Medical College, and additional studies at Harvard Business School.

Uncommon Cures® was launched in 2023 with the mission to streamline orphan drug clinical development, which is unnecessarily slow, expensive, and likely to fail due to non-drug factors. Led by an expert team of physicians, nurses, and pharmacists with over 150 years of combined experience, Uncommon Cures collaborates with pharmaceutical and biotechnology sponsors to design and conduct highly efficient clinical trials for FDA and other regulatory agency approval. Some have called Uncommon Cures® a Clinical Research Organization (CRO) - it is not. Rather, it is a Clinical Research Program providing thought partnership and an efficient end-to-end solution called Uncommon Sense™ covering activities throughout orphan drug clinical development, including all legacy CRO and study site functions.
