Cherry S. Thompson

Cherry S. Thompson serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Uncommon Schools since January 2022 and has been an active member of the SXSW EDU Advisory Board since August 2018, contributing to the development of the SXSW EDU Conference & Festival alongside educational leaders. Prior experience includes various leadership roles at Teaching Channel from 2017 to 2022, including Regional Vice President, and positions within Austin Independent School District, such as Assistant Principal and Professional Learning Specialist. Cherry began her career in the accounting field at Coopers & Lybrand and PwC. Currently, Cherry is pursuing a Doctorate in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, building on a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Lamar University and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Prairie View A&M University.
