Mohan Acharya

Mohan Acharya is a seasoned legal professional and independent consultant based in Nepal, with extensive experience in governance, human rights, and constitutional law. Since April 2018, Mohan has worked as a Freelancer/Independent Consultant, collaborating with political leaders and various government bodies to amend laws and implement the Constitution of Nepal, supported by the UNDP and National Human Rights Commission. Concurrently, Mohan serves as a Resident Advisor at the Danida Programme Support Unit and as a Senior Program Officer at the Embassy of Denmark, focusing on peace, rights, and governance initiatives. With a longstanding tenure at UNDP, beginning in December 2008, Mohan holds the role of Senior Legal Officer, providing expert legal advice and leading participatory constitution-building efforts. Earlier roles include Protection Program Manager at the International Rescue Committee, managing support for internally displaced persons and human rights monitoring. Mohan's academic background includes multiple master's degrees in law and sociology from Tribhuwan University and other institutions.
