Sara Borrillo is an Associate Professor specializing in Contemporary History of Arab Countries at the University of Naples L'Orientale. They are a quadrilingual researcher focused on gender, women's rights, Islam, and social movements in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Currently, Sara serves as an Adjunct Professor in Islamic Law at the University Roma Tre and a Visiting Professor at GIS-Institut du Genre/Paris1-Panthéon, Sorbonne University. Sara obtained their PhD in Middle East and North Africa Studies in 2014 and has participated in numerous research projects and conferences related to gender issues. They also work as an expert for UNDP on Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment.
