Philipp Müller-Wirth is a seasoned professional with extensive experience at UNESCO since December 1991, currently serving as the Chief of the Sport Section. In this role, Philipp is the Secretary for the 7th World Conference of Sport Ministers held in Baku, Azerbaijan, and Co-Chair of the Development Banks’ Sport Coalition. Previously, Philipp held the position of Executive Officer for Sport, focusing on sport policy development aligned with human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals, and contributed to the organization of the 5th and 6th World Sport Ministers Conferences. Other notable roles include Head of Social and Human Sciences for the Regional Office for South Africa and various leadership positions in branding, partnerships, and development banks. Philipp's academic background includes an MBA in Economics from the University of Cologne and intermediary degrees in Business & Commerce as well as Public and Private Law from Technische Universität Berlin and Freie Universität Berlin, respectively.
