Andrea Ferrari

Andrea Ferrari has extensive work experience in various organizations. Andrea first worked for the Uruguayan Air Force's Armed Forces Central Hospital as a Medical Officer, where they established and maintained the Aero Medical Safety Program and provided medical support for Air Force Operations. Andrea then worked as an Emergency Specialist at the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) in Ethiopia. After that, they joined the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as an Occupational Physician, where they managed employee rehabilitation, conducted medical consultations, and presented findings to the UN Staff Pension Board. Currently, they are the Chief Medical Officer at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, leading the Medical Section Team and transforming the organization's scale, policies, and procedures for rapid growth. Andrea has successfully leveraged technology to increase efficiency and communication within the organization.

Andrea Ferrari obtained a Doctor in Medicine degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from Universidad de la República between 1990 and 1998. In 2007-2008, Andrea completed a Master's degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from the University of Deusto. In 2014-2015, Andrea obtained a Master's degree in Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene from Turin University.

In terms of additional certifications, Andrea received various certifications including INSEAD Microcredential: Future of Work from INSEAD Executive Education, PROTECTING HEALTH DATA IN THE MODERN AGE: GETTING TO GRIPS WITH THE GDPR from the University of Groningen, Patient Safety and Root cause analysis from the United Nations, NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) from Iqarus, INSEAD Women in Leadership Programme from INSEAD Executive Education, International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) Workshop from the World Health Organization, Independent Medical Evaluation from the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, and Field occupational safety and health training from the United Nations. The years and months for the obtained certifications have not been provided except for NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification, which was obtained in November 2022.
