Kelly T. Clements serves as the Deputy High Commissioner at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, since July 2015. Prior to this, Clements held various roles at the U.S. Department of State from August 1990 to July 2015, including Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, Acting Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Beirut, and Director of the Office of Policy and Resource Planning. Notable experience includes serving as a protection officer in Cox’s Bazar during the Rohingya refugee crisis in Bangladesh. Clements holds a Master of Arts in Urban Studies/Affairs and a Bachelor of Arts in International/Global Studies, both from Virginia Tech.
