Martina Caterina is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in human rights and internal displacement. Since April 2016, Martina has served as a Legal Officer at UNHCR, leading the Global Protection Cluster Task Team on Law & Policy and acting as a Senior Legal Adviser to the Special Rapporteur on the human rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs). Prior commitments include serving as Durable Solutions Project Coordinator at JIPS, where Martina coordinated efforts to operationalize the IASC Framework on Durable Solutions for IDPs, as well as a Regional Analyst at the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, focusing on East Africa and Zimbabwe. Martina's early career includes roles at Public Achievement and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Martina holds an E.MA in Human Rights and Democratisation and a Master’s degree in Political Institutions of Human Rights and Peace, among other academic qualifications.
