James Barford-Evans

James Barford-Evans has a diverse work experience in various roles. James is currently working at Unibuddy as a Software Engineer III, where they focus on making tasks easier for developers by building deployment pipelines, creating commandline tools, and redesigning backend and frontend systems.

Prior to their current role, James worked as a Software Engineer at Earnd and EduMe in 2021 and 2020 respectively. At Kiplot, they worked as a Software Engineer from July 2018 to November 2020.

Before transitioning into software engineering, James had sales and managerial roles. James worked as a Sales Manager at Pass The Keys and Haus Properties, and as a Senior Sales Negotiator at Winkworth. James also served as an Assistant Sales Manager and Senior Sales Negotiator at Orchards of London, where they generated sales, conducted viewings, and progressed sales to completion.

From 2011 to 2014, James attended the University of Leeds, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in New Media. Their field of study was Web and Visual Communications.

In 2016, James enrolled at freeCodeCamp and completed a Full Stack Web Development Certification. This certification focused on Computer Software Engineering. James completed the program in 2017.

From 2023 to 2025, James pursued a Master of Science degree in Computer Science at the University of York.

In addition to their formal education, James has obtained two certifications. In 2018, they earned the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification from Amazon. In 2022, they received the AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS).
