Meghna Das Cenv

Meghna Das CEnv has extensive work experience in the field of sustainability, environment, and climate change. Meghna began their career as a Senior Environmental Scientist at Development Alternatives in 2003 and later worked as an Environmental Training Officer at Groundwork Leicester & Leicestershire in 2006. In 2007, they joined Hyder Consulting as an Environmental Surveyor and also worked as a Freelance Trainer at Climate Outreach Information Network, where they delivered training on climate change communication.

In 2007, Meghna joined Coventry City Council as a Sustainability Officer, where they played a key role in embedding sustainability in schools and developing the UK National Sustainable Schools framework. Meghna also contributed to the drafting of the Council's first Climate Change strategy and secured project funding for initiatives to reduce the carbon footprint of schools.

From 2011 to 2012, they served as a Manager - Environmental Programme at Development Alternatives, focusing on environmental projects. In 2012, they joined WWF-India as a Senior Manager, coordinating various projects on water stewardship, climate change adaptation, and habitat conservation. Meghna also established multi-stakeholder groups to advocate for river health assessment and ecological preservation.

In 2014, Meghna joined ThamesWey Group as the Low Carbon Communities Lead, where they worked on delivering sustainability and climate change strategies across Surrey. In 2015, they joined UNICEF as a Programme Specialist, focusing on sustainable development and climate-resilient solutions for children. Meghna played a key role in partnerships and fundraising efforts for projects in various regions, including Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, India, and Latin America.

Meghna held several roles at UNICEF, including Deputy Head International Programmes and Senior Programme Specialist - Sustainability. Meghna provided strategic insights and advice, led teams, and strengthened relationships and partnerships in hotspot regions. Meghna facilitated evidence-building and strategy delivery on UNICEF's work in climate change and environment and represented UNICEF as a speaker at various conferences and events.

In 2021, they briefly worked at UNICEF as a Climate & Environment Programme Partnerships Specialist before returning to UNICEF UK as the Head of International Programmes Engagement in 2022. In this role, they lead a team of specialists and provides strategic insights and advice on UNICEF's areas of work to internal and external stakeholders.

Meghna Das CEnv has a strong educational background in environmental biology and network-centered computing. Meghna obtained an MSc (Gold Medalist with Distinction) in Environmental Biology from Delhi University from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed a Professional Diploma (with Distinction) in Network Centered Computing from the National Institute of Information Technology from 1997 to 2001. Meghna also holds a BSc (Honours) (with Distinction) in Botany from Sri Venkateswara College, Delhi University, which they completed from 1997 to 2000.

In addition to their degrees, Meghna has also obtained various certifications in their field. Meghna is a Chartered Environmentalist, certified by the Society for the Environment (SocEnv). Meghna is also a Full Member of MIEMA, certified by IEMA. Furthermore, they have obtained a Level 3 Environmental Management certification from The Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, as well as a Professional Trainer Certificate from the same institution.
