Octavio N. Espinal has extensive experience in organizational leadership and program management, currently serving as Chief of Staff in the Office of the President at UnidosUS since October 2004, with previous titles including Senior Director, Director, Associate Director, and Assistant to the President and CEO. Prior to UnidosUS, Octavio held roles as Assistant Director of Programs and Regional Field Manager at LLEGÓ, the National Latina/o LGBT Organization, from August 2001 to August 2004. Octavio N. Espinal holds an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from the University of Maryland.

UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza, NCLR)—the largest national Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States—works to improve opportunities for Hispanic Americans. Through its network of nearly 300 affiliated community-based organizations (CBOs), UnidosUS reaches millions of Hispanics each year in 41 states, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia. To achieve its mission, UnidosUS conducts applied research, policy analysis, and advocacy, providing a Latino perspective in five key areas—assets/investments, civil rights/immigration, education, employment and economic status, and health. In addition, it provides capacity-building assistance to its Affiliates who work at the state and local level to advance opportunities for individuals and families.
