Gary L Hammons has extensive experience in both engineering and community leadership roles. Currently serving as the Vice President of the Board of Managers at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, Illinois, Gary contributes to the management of the largest municipal cemetery in the state, which is also the second most visited cemetery in the U.S. Gary's involvement extends to various committees, including the Springfield Area Transportation Study and a past position on the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency Board of Trustees, where Gary influenced policies for the preservation of historic properties in Illinois. Additionally, Gary serves as Associate Pastor at Union Baptist Church and President of Union Baptist Plaza, Inc., which provides senior housing. A retired Gas Engineer from Ameren Illinois Company with a degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, Gary’s background also includes engineering roles at the Illinois Department of Transportation and NASA.
