Derek Farmer

Derek Farmer is an experienced planning professional with a strong background in urban and regional planning. Currently serving as Planning Manager for the City of Union City since October 2020, Derek previously held various positions including Planning Director and Senior Planner at the Town of Moraga, and Senior Planner at the City of Orinda. With earlier roles as Senior Environmental Planner at Tetra Tech and Senior Planner at Metropolitan Planning Group, Derek's career began as a Forward Planner at KB HOME. Derek holds a Master of Urban Planning degree from San Jose State University, specializing in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning.
