Athanasios Giannakopoulos

Athanasios Giannakopoulos has a diverse work experience, starting with their current position as an Engagement Director and Data Scientist at Unit8 since April 2023. Prior to that, they worked as a Technical Engagement Lead and Data Scientist at the same company from September 2022 to March 2023.

Before joining Unit8, Athanasios held various roles at Swisscom from 2017 to 2022. Athanasios was the Leader for Agile Teams from June 2021 to August 2022, where they demonstrated their expertise in leading agile teams. As an Expert Data Scientist, they contributed to the organization from April 2021 to August 2022. In their previous role as a Senior Data Scientist in the Data, Analytics, and AI (DNA) Department from April 2020 to March 2021, Athanasios utilized their knowledge in data science and analytics. Before that, they worked as a Data Scientist in the same department, where they led the technical and development aspects of dialogue management and NLU components for Swisscom TV. Additionally, they supervised Master Students on NLP projects like churn detection.

Earlier in their career, Athanasios worked at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) as a Student Research Assistant at the Laboratory of Communications and Applications (LCA) from September 2015 to February 2017. Athanasios'sfocus was on estimating end-to-end delays in Wi-Fi and PLC communication channels for UDP data transmission. Athanasios also completed an internship at EPFL from October 2014 to May 2015, where they worked on a project related to wireless communications in the context of Smart Grid Applications. Athanasios also gained experience as a Student Research Assistant at the National Technical University of Athens from April 2014 to July 2014.

Athanasios Giannakopoulos pursued their education in a systematic manner and obtained various degrees and certifications. Athanasios started their educational journey in 2003 and completed their high school education from Deutsche Schule Athen in 2009. Athanasios then enrolled in the National Technical University of Athens and pursued a Diploma in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialization in Communication Systems and Networks. Athanasios attended this institution from 2009 to 2014.

After completing their undergraduate studies, Athanasios Giannakopoulos further enhanced their knowledge in the field of Computer Science by pursuing a Master's degree at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from 2015 to 2017.

Additionally, Athanasios Giannakopoulos has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. Athanasios obtained the Palantir Foundry Foundations certification from Palantir Technologies in November 2022. In November 2021, they obtained the Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org. Moreover, they acquired the AWS Partner: Accreditation (Technical) certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in September 2021 and the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification in February 2022. Lastly, in November 2022, they obtained the Palantir Foundry Application Developer Associate and Palantir Foundry Data Engineer Associate certifications, both from Palantir Technologies.
