Dr Marcin Pietrzyk

Dr Marcin Pietrzyk has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Dr Marcin is the Founder & CEO of Unit8 SA since September 2017, where they lead a team of world-class experts in AI and Software Engineering to solve industry problems. Dr Marcin is also an AI & Data community expert at digitalswitzerland since August 2021.

Prior to this, Dr Pietrzyk worked as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of St. Gallen in 2017-2018. Dr Marcin served at Swisscom from 2011 to 2017, where they held multiple positions including Head of Big Data & AI, Head of Network Intelligence - Big Data & AI Center, and Team Leader - Big Data. In these roles, they led disruptive projects in Big Data, launched the company's first big data platform, and managed the growth of a high-profile software engineering and data science team.

Before joining Swisscom, Dr Pietrzyk co-founded and served as CEO of Abiturient S.C. from 2007 to 2011. Dr Marcin also worked as a PhD candidate at Orange Labs from 2008 to 2011, conducting research in data mining and machine learning in the context of IP networks intelligence. During their time at Orange Labs, they developed an AI-based traffic classification tool and published results in top-ranked conferences in the field.

Dr Pietrzyk's early work experience includes a role as an IT Consultant at Comarch in 2006 and as a Software Engineer at California TOK Inc. in 2004-2005.
