Frederick Schaffer

Chief Medical Officer at United Biologics

Dr. Schaffer is the CMO for United Allergy Services. Dr. Schaffer is board certified in Allergy/Immunology and in Pediatrics. He received a bachelor’s degree in Physics from the City College of New York and received a master’s degree in Nutritional Biochemistry from Columbia University-College of Physicians and Surgeons. He then graduated from medical school at SUNY Downstate Medical College. Dr. Schaffer completed his residency at Einstein University Hospital from 1981 to 1984 and then undertook his first fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children/Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Schaffer completed an additional fellowship at The University of Alabama at Birmingham Division of Developmental and Clinical Immunology and remained at the University as a Senior Research Associate. While in private practice, Dr. Schaffer was also an Assistant Professor of Allergy/Immunologist/Pediatric Rheumatology at the Children’s Hospital of Buffalo and an Attending Allergist at the Baptist Memorial Golden Triangle Hospital in Columbus, Miss. In 2002, he joined the Medical University of South Carolina Pediatrics Department as Associate Professor of Allergy/Immunology and Pediatric Rheumatology.

Currently in private practice, Dr. Schaffer is a fellow at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; and the American Immunology Association. He is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and by The American Board of Allergy/Immunology. Dr Schaffer has participated in more than 25 clinical trials, is widely published, has received numerous awards and is an active symposium speaker.
