H. Lynn Harton

H. Lynn Harton is currently the Chairman & CEO at United Community Bank. Prior to this, they were with TD Bank Group from September 2010 to June 2011, where they were EVP, Head of Commercial Banking, South. In this role, they led the successful integration of TSFG into TD Bank.

From February 2007 to February 2011, Harton was the President and CEO of The South Financial Group. As CEO, they crafted a dual strategy of "weathering the storm" and "rebuilding the business" in order to focus and direct teammates during a period of intense change and a difficult environment. H. streamlined the organizational structure, refocused objectives, and aligned incentives throughout the organization. H. recruited a team to build a leading SBA business, expanded mortgage originations, increased loan pricing, built liquidity and reduced operating expenses significantly. Ultimately, they successfully negotiated the sale of the company to TD Bank in one of the first non-failed bank transactions since the onset of the credit crisis.

H. Lynn Harton received a BSBA in Business from Wake Forest University.
