Omar Akhtar

Omar Akhtar is an experienced engineering professional with a strong background in secondary design and protection automation. Currently serving as a Secondary Design Engineer at United Energy since August 2021, Omar specializes in the secondary design of 66kV/22kV distribution networks and the preparation of ITPs for ElectraNet. Prior to this role, Omar held the position of Senior Engineer at PSD Energy, where responsibilities included protection and automation. Previous experience includes roles as an Electrical/Electronics/Network Inspector at Applus+ Velosi and Co-Founder at ZNB Est, where expertise in designing protection panels and conducting various electrical studies was demonstrated. Beginning a career at Gulf Power Distribution Systems Company as a Senior Protection and Automation Engineer, Omar managed projects and precommissioning efforts from 2006 to 2014. Omar holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore.
