Maggie Balek currently serves as the Volunteer Engagement Manager at United Food Bank, a position held since January 2023. Prior to this role, Maggie was the Assistant Operations Manager at Crooked Creek Food Pantry from July 2020 to January 2023, and worked as an English Second Language Teacher at MAXIMO NIVEL from September 2019 to April 2020. Additionally, Maggie gained experience as a Meetings and Conventions Intern at Kiwanis International in the summer of 2018. Maggie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies and Spanish from Indiana University Bloomington, completed in 2019, and is pursuing a Master’s degree in Nonprofit Management & Leadership at Arizona State University, expected to graduate in May 2025. Maggie also attended Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales in 2017 and graduated from Carmel High School in 2015.

Our Mission: Uniting communities to alleviate hunger United Food Bank (UFB) has received a 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service. United Food Bank is a private nonprofit that provides hunger relief and food assistance by collecting, acquiring, storing, and distributing food and related commodities through a network of partner social services agencies in our service area: Eastern Maricopa, Gila, Pinal, Southern Apache, Southern Navajo Counties. We are resource driven as well as need driven. We provide as many resources as possible through our best efforts, knowing there will be times when the need is greater than the available resources.
