Salvatore Caruso

Salvatore Caruso is a highly experienced plant breeder specializing in tomatoes and cucurbits. Currently serving as the Global Breeding Lead for Indeterminate Tomato at United Genetics Seeds Co. since September 2020, Salvatore previously held the role of Tomato Breeder and Cucurbits Product Developer Assistant. Prior experience includes a tenure at VILMORIN SA from January 2017 to August 2020 as a Tomato Breeder and Tomato Junior Breeder, during which Salvatore received training under Senior Breeder Vittorio Mario Stravato. Salvatore's academic credentials include a PhD in Plant Epigenetics from Università degli Studi di Perugia, completed in September 2023, a Master's degree in Agricultural and Environmental Biotechnologies, and a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences from Università degli Studi 'Mediterranea'​ di Reggio Calabria.
