United Ministries

United Ministries serves and empowers those on the transformative journey to self-sufficiency. Our vision is a community working together to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive in Greenville. Founded in 1970, we accomplish our mission through three key focus areas: 1) Education and Employment - Our Adult Education program helps individuals prepare for the GED Exam. Our Employment Readiness program helps people to find and keep quality employment by providing soft skills and technical job training; assistance with earning certificates; and help with resume writing, interview skills, the job search and removing barriers to employability. 2) Crisis Assistance - We offer financial assistance with rent, utilities, food and life-sustaining medications. Families receiving assistance also receive encouragement, as they meet with volunteers to discuss their needs and identify solutions. 3) Homeless Services - In addition to providing basic services such as showers and laundry, the Place of Hope day shelter provides case management through which the root causes of homelessness are addressed. Our Interfaith Hospitality Network partners with congregations to offer temporary housing and meals for homeless families with children while working with participants to achieve a long term solution to their homelessness.
