Hossam Ed-Deen Allam

Hossam Ed-Deen Allam is a seasoned legal professional and academic with extensive experience in law, countering extremism, and diplomacy. Currently serving as a State Counsel at the Egyptian State Lawsuits Authority since August 2021, Hossam also participates in projects with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and holds a scholarly position with the Chevening Awards. Hossam is a lecturer at Al-Azhar University and has been involved with both the Al-Azhar Global Centre for Countering Extremism and the Al-Azhar Supreme Council as a member and academic researcher since July 2015. Previous roles include academic researcher at The Richardson Institute and a research intern focusing on the SEPAD Project. Hossam holds a Master’s degree in Diplomacy and Religion from Lancaster University and a Bachelor of Laws - LLB in Law and Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University, alongside advanced English qualifications from the British Council.

#UNAOC is a United Nations political initiative of the Secretary-General. The primary mission of UNAOC is to forge collective political will and mobilize concerted action aimed to improve cross-cultural understanding and cooperation among countries, people, and communities. The Alliance develops its actions, geared around education, youth, media, migration, and women as peace mediators, at both the governmental and civil society levels, and works towards countering forces that fuel polarization and extremism.
