Simon West Obe

Simon West OBE currently serves as the Mission Preparedness and Organizational Resilience Management lead for the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), aiming to strengthen organizational resilience against various disruptive events. Previously held roles include Senior Political Affairs Officer for Security Coordination, where responsibilities involved coordinating efforts between the UN and the Federal Government of Somalia to implement security mandates, and Defence Sector Reform Advisor, providing strategic military advice to bolster Somali Defence Forces. Simon West's extensive military background includes leadership roles in H M Forces, managing civil/military teams and overseeing training for personnel in Africa. Academic credentials include an MSc in Strategic, International and Military Affairs from the University of Madras, alongside training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and Cheltenham College.
