Marc Proksch serves as the Chief of Investment and Enterprise Development within the Trade, Investment and Innovation Division at the United Nations ESCAP since January 2013. In this role, Marc Proksch manages initiatives aimed at fostering a conducive business and investment environment, enhancing the capacity of small and medium-sized enterprises, and promoting sustainable foreign direct investment. Additional responsibilities include organizing the annual Asia-Pacific Business Forum and acting as the secretariat for the ESCAP Business Advisory Council. Prior to this position, Marc Proksch was the Chief of Private Sector and Development within the same division starting in June 2011, and served as an Economic Affairs Officer from January 1990 to September 2010. Marc Proksch holds an MSc in Politics of the World Economy from The London School of Economics and Political Science and a Doctorandus in Political Science and International Relations from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

The Commission promotes cooperation among its 53 member States and 9 associate members in pursuit of solutions to sustainable development challenges. ESCAP is one of the five regional commissions of the United Nations.
