Ajith Sunghay has extensive work experience in the field of human rights. Ajith began their career as a Legal Protection Intern at UNHCR in 2002 and went on to hold various roles within the organization, including Refugee Status Determination Officer and Legal Protection Officer. In 2008, Ajith joined the United Nations Human Rights, where they started as a Human Rights Officer and later took on leadership roles such as Team Leader for North Africa and Team Leader for a specific team. Ajith also served as the UN Human Rights Due Diligence Policy Officer and Cluster Lead. Currently, Ajith holds the position of Head of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
Ajith Sunghay completed their BCL - Masters in Law degree from the University of Oxford in 2002. Later, from 2019 to 2022, they pursued a MA degree in International Relations and Contemporary War Studies from the University of London. The field of study for both degrees is not specified.
