Melis Ekren currently serves as an Intern in the Universal Periodic Review Branch of the United Nations Human Rights Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, beginning in September 2024. Previous experiences include a Mini Pupil role at 2 Bedford Row, where cases observed involved serious criminal offenses, and another Mini Pupil position at 33 Bedford Row, focusing on judicial proceedings. Melis Ekren has also interned with The Advocates for Human Rights in the Women’s Rights Programme and served as an Editor for the Bristol Law Review's 9th Edition. Additional roles encompass writing for Dicta Magazine, a Legal Internship at 3DCentre (now The Justice League), and various positions at the University of Bristol Law School and Law Clinic, focusing on human rights and access to healthcare. Melis holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Bristol, an LLM in Barrister Training Course from BPP Law School, and has participated in a Summer School on International Politics of Human Rights at UCL. Educational background includes a French Baccalaureat with OIB from Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill and studies at Özel Notre Dame de Sion Fransız Lisesi.
