James Weatherill has extensive experience in humanitarian affairs and international development, currently serving as Chief of the People and Culture Section and Deputy Head of Office at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) since December 2011. Previous roles at OCHA included Programme and Planning Advisor and Head of the Humanitarian Financing Unit. Earlier in his career, James Weatherill worked as a Humanitarian Affairs Officer in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and as a Foreign Service Officer at USAID from March 2003 to January 2008, following a role as Field Officer with USAID/OFDA. Before transitioning to international affairs, James Weatherill was a sculptor specializing in stone, working with marble, limestone, and alabaster in Washington, D.C. Educational qualifications include a Master of International Affairs in Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs from Columbia University and a BA in Russian Studies and International Studies from Washington University in St. Louis.
