Tareq Talahma

Tareq Talahma is an experienced professional in political affairs and humanitarian work, currently serving as the Head of Office for Political Affairs at the United Nations since March 2024. Tareq has held multiple leadership roles within the United Nations OCHA, including Head of Office in Fiji and Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa. Previous positions also include Program Manager at the United Nations Resident Coordinator Office and various humanitarian roles where Tareq focused on coordination, advocacy, resource mobilization, and information management. With a strong educational background, including a Master’s degree from York University and a Summer Course in Political Economy from Georgetown University, Tareq co-founded the Rural Center for Sustainable Development and worked as a Policy/Institutional and Capacity Building Specialist at Environmental Resources Management.
