Shams Banihani

Shams Banihani is an experienced professional with a focus on South-South Cooperation and intergovernmental policy within the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation since March 2018, serving as both an Intergovernmental Policy Specialist and a Knowledge and Research Specialist. Prior to this role, Shams worked at UNDP from 2010 to March 2018 as a Policy Analyst specializing in South-South and Triangular Cooperation, as well as a consultant in poverty reduction and local development. Earlier experience includes roles as a Structural Review Specialist and Foreign Exchange Trader at Arab Bank from 2004 to 2009. Shams holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Illinois Springfield and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
