Peter Barwick

Senior Political Advisor to the UN in Honduras

Peter Barwick is an experienced political advisor with a strong focus on conflict mediation and election support within the United Nations. Notably, Barwick served as the Senior Political Advisor to the UN in Honduras, where analysis of socio-political trends ahead of the 2025 general election was conducted. Previous roles include Political Officer for Mediation Support, where a standby team for conflict mediation was established, and Chief of Staff for the UN in Myanmar, coordinating technical assistance for the electoral bodies. At UNDP, Barwick managed a conflict prevention program in Nepal, facilitating dialogue during the 2013 national elections. Early in the career, Barwick held the position of Deputy Political Advisor to the United Nations Peace Mission in Guatemala, providing critical political analysis during the peace process and the 2003 general election. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in International Relations and Affairs from the London School of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Amherst College.
