Surya Deva

Surya Deva is a prominent legal scholar and leader in the field of human rights and development. Currently serving as the UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development and a Professor of Law at Macquarie University, Deva also holds directorships at the Centre for Environmental Law and the B&HR Access to Justice Lab. As Editor in Chief of the Business and Human Rights Journal and Vice President of the International Association of Constitutional Law, Deva is recognized for contributions to the discourse on business and human rights. Previously, Deva was a member of the UN Working Group on Business and Human Rights and has held academic positions at City University of Hong Kong and the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. Deva's academic credentials include a PhD from the University of Sydney and multiple law degrees from the University of Delhi.
