Alicia Talamas Leal is a dedicated professional with a background in international relations and Arab World studies. Currently serving as a Program Assistant at the United States Institute of Peace since July 2023, Alicia also works as an English-Spanish Translator for the Capital Area Immigrants' Rights Coalition since June 2021. Previous roles include serving as a Senior Peer Facilitator and Peer Facilitator at American University, a Research & Development Intern at Alhadaf Institute, a Civil Rights & Policy Intern at Karamah: Muslim Women Lawyers for Human Rights, and an Intern at the Museum of the Palestinian People. Alicia has held leadership positions such as Chief of Staff and Under Director General at the American University International Relations Society, and contributed to research as a Student Research Assistant at the American University School of International Service. Early career experiences include an internship with the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth and a Senior Counselor role at National Hispanic Institute. Alicia earned a Bachelor's degree from American University and a High School Diploma from Ursuline Academy of Dallas.
