Tom Shields

Tom Shields is an accomplished soccer coach and educator with extensive experience in various leadership roles within the sport. Currently serving as a Club Technical Leadership Coach Educator for the U.S. Soccer Federation since July 2023, Tom also holds the position of Boys id2 National Staff Coach for US Club Soccer and Technical Director at STA. As Technical Director, Tom has led teams to four national championships, notably as Head Coach for FC Motown STA and U19 Boys ECNL. Previous roles include Associate National Staff Coach at United Soccer Coaches, Global Director of Club Development and Coach Education at Beyond Pulse, and an impactful tenure at Rutgers University as Director of Player Performance & Pedagogy for Men's Soccer. Tom's coaching credentials extend to women's soccer as well, serving as First Team Coach at Hull City Ladies FC and Women's Football Head Coach at the University of Hull. Tom's coaching expertise is underpinned by advanced academic qualifications, including an MSc in Sport and Exercise Psychology and a BSc (Hons) in Sports Coaching from Leeds Beckett University.
