Karen Young has a diverse work experience, with their most recent role being as the Chief Executive Officer at the United Way of Calgary and Area starting in January 2017. Before that, they served as the Vice President - COO at the same organization from June 2014 to January 2017. Prior to joining the United Way, Karen worked at the City of Calgary in various roles. Karen was the Director of Community and Neighbourhood Services from July 2012 to June 2014, the Manager of the Recreation Business Unit from January 2003 to July 2012, and the Manager of Strategic Planning & Policy from January 2007 to March 2012.
Karen Young earned a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership from York University in the year 2010-2011. Prior to that, Karen obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Leisure, Recreation, and Tourism from the University of Calgary.
