Tanya Barrett, MS, LPCA has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Tanya started their career as a Job Coach at the Mental Health Association of Connecticut, where they provided vocational counseling to mentally ill clients and supervised them at their job sites. Tanya then worked as a Social Worker at the State of Connecticut Department of Children and Families before joining the United Way of Connecticut. At United Way, Tanya held various positions, including Caseworker and Supervisor, where they educated callers on healthcare program guidelines and provided referrals. Tanya later became the Director of HUSKY Infoline and eventually the Senior Vice President of 2-1-1 Health and Human Services, overseeing the provision of quality information and advocacy to callers. Tanya also served as a Health Leadership Fellow at CT Health Foundation. Overall, their experience demonstrates a strong commitment to helping individuals access healthcare services and improve their overall well-being.
Tanya Barrett, MS, LPCA has an extensive educational background in the field of mental health counseling and social work. Tanya completed their Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) degree at Western Connecticut State University from 1991 to 1995. Following that, they pursued their Master of Science (MS) degree in Counseling with a specialization in Human Resource Development at the University of Bridgeport from 2000 to 2002.
In their commitment to further enhance their expertise, Tanya also obtained an Advanced Graduate Studies Certificate-Sixth Year from the University of Bridgeport, specializing in Mental Health Counseling/Counselor. This program is expected to be completed by 2022.
Additionally, Tanya Barrett holds the certification of Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, which was obtained in October 2022 from the Connecticut Department of Public Health. These additional certifications demonstrate their continued dedication to professional development and ensuring quality care for their clients.
