Laura Heiman

Director, Capacity Building & Operations at United Way of Greater Atlanta

Laura Heiman has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Laura currently serves as the Director of Capacity Building and Operations at the United Way of Greater Atlanta since July 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Project Manager at the same organization from May 2017 to June 2021, where they supported the Greater Atlanta COVID-19 Response and Recovery Fund and managed capacity building efforts for nonprofit partners. Before joining United Way, Laura worked as the Manager of Major Gifts at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History from April 2016 to April 2017, overseeing a $1.7M fundraising portfolio and managing donor solicitation campaigns. Laura also held the role of Grants & Sponsorship Coordinator at the same organization from June 2014 to April 2016. Additionally, Laura worked as a Consultant in Information Services at The Hillman Company and Hillman Family Foundations from November 2013 to May 2014.

Laura Heiman has a strong educational background in history. Laura obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where they studied from 2006 to 2010. In 2008-2009, Laura participated in the Junior Year Abroad Program at King's College London, further enhancing their historical knowledge. Later, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in History with a concentration in Public History at American University, completing their studies from 2011 to 2013.
