Merri Sheffield is an experienced professional with a strong background in project coordination, marketing communications, and public relations. Currently serving as a Project Coordinator at the United Way of Greater Atlanta since February 2016, Merri has also held positions as Marketing Communications Manager and Consultant at DMD Engineering & Construction/Roya Custom Homes, Inc. since September 2000. Notable past roles include Crew Leader at the U.S. Census Bureau, where Merri excelled in various field operations, and Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Emory-Adventist Hospital. With a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Photography from Georgia State University, Merri is also a certified Mental Health First Aid Trainer and has completed a Project Management Certification Program at Kennesaw State University. Renowned for exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, Merri has effectively developed marketing strategies, managed teams, and fostered new business opportunities throughout a diverse career.

Our Child Well-Being Index shows that in 79 neighborhoods across our region, child well-being is declining. These neighborhoods are located in every one of Greater Atlanta's 13 counties, and often they're separated by just a few short blocks from the neighborhoods with the most access to opportunity. For the 77,000 youth who call these neighborhoods home, that means that they're facing inequitable barriers to success. They have big dreams—but gaps in opportunities and resources stand in their way of achieving them. These aren’t just numbers. They’re our neighbors.
