Karen Howell-Clark

Sr. Director, Education Strategies at United Way of King County

Karen Howell-Clark has extensive work experience in the education and nonprofit sectors. Karen started their career at Jackson Elementary School as a Teacher Aide in Special Education. Karen then worked as a Graduate Student Intern at the Betty Clooney Foundation for the Brain Injured, researching and assisting with various projects. Karen then served as a Graduate Student Intern at All Peoples Center and later returned to work there as a Program Coordinator. Karen then joined the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health as a Graduate Student Intern. Karen then transitioned to Washington Literacy, where they held roles as a Training Coordinator and later as the Director of Operations. Currently, they hold a senior position at the United Way of King County, starting as a Community Impact Manager and working their way up to Associate Director of Early Learning, Director of Early Learning, and currently the Sr. Director of Education Strategies.

Karen Howell-Clark completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Yale University from 1980 to 1984. Karen then pursued a Master of Social Work degree at UCLA from 1985 to 1987, specializing in Social Work with a focus on Community Organizing, Planning, and Administration.
