Kathy Surace-Smith is a corporate attorney with extensive experience in the healthcare and technology industries. Kathy is currently the Director at United Way of King County, a position they have held since 2013. Prior to that, Kathy was Principal at Lochleven Consulting PLLC, where they provided strategic legal and business consulting services to clients in the healthcare and technology sectors.

Kathy began their legal career at Alcatel N.V., an international telecommunications company, where they served as International Counsel from 1994 to 1996. Kathy then joined Metawave Communications as VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, a position they held from 1996 to 2002. In 2002, Kathy joined SonoSite Inc. as VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. SonoSite is a world leader in bedside and point-of-care ultrasound and an industry leader in ultra high-frequency micro-ultrasound technology. Kathy served in this role until 2011, when they left to start their own consulting firm.

Kathy is a graduate of Georgetown University Law Center and the College of William & Mary.

Kathy Surace-Smith has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Princeton University, where they graduated Magna Cum Laude. Kathy also has a Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School. Additionally, they have a degree in International Law and Economics from the Geneva Graduate Institute.
