Laurie Humphries has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. Laurie most recently worked as the Director of Volunteers and Events at the United Way of the Coastal Empire, where they oversaw the volunteer department and managed event logistics. Prior to that, they were the Destination Services Manager at Visit Savannah, where they coordinated programs and personnel operations and managed budgets. Laurie also served as a Marketing Events Specialist at Great Dane Trailers, a Senior Sales Manager at Holiday Inn - Savannah Historic District, and a Senior Event Manager at the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center. Laurie began their career as an Activities Coordinator at Marriott Vacation Club International and worked as a Shift Supervisor at Starbucks.
Laurie Humphries began their education journey in 2003 at Kent State University, where they studied Interpersonal & Public Communication. Laurie continued their studies at Coastal Carolina University from 2006 to 2007, earning a Bachelor's degree in Communication.

The mission of United Way of the Coastal Empire is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. We are united by a vision of the community in which all people have the opportunity to reach their full potential and families thrive. Our focus is on our commitment to the most vulnerable in our community with an emphasis on basic human needs such as food, shelter, health, and safety in addition to community disaster response. This is the historical core of the United Way of the Coastal Empire’s mission. Beyond our core mission, we want to help all people to reach their full potential. This means providing pathways for Upward Mobility, with a focus on the thousands of our neighbors who have been unable to get ahead, living one paycheck or one crisis away from devastation.
