Omoiye O. Kinney

As Chief Marketing Officer at UWW, Omoiye O. Kinney leads brand marketing, communications, product innovation, advertising, and digital initiatives for the organization.

Previously, Ms. Kinney served as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Technology for the YMCA of Greater Charlotte in January 2021. In this role, Ms. Kinney provided leadership, vision and direction to Marketing, Information Technology, Consumer Insights and Analytics, along with developing and executing digital product strategies. Her focus was to align marketing strategies with business goals, ensure a sold IT infrastructure, work closely with technology providers and launch new digital products.

Ms. Kinney previously served as the Communications Director for the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Intellectual disAbility Services, where she was responsible for developing innovative awareness campaigns and engagement solutions designed to provide behavioral health support to more than 700- hundred thousand Philadelphians. She also served as a Public Information Officer for the City of Philadelphia.

A long tenured YMCA professional, Ms. Kinney has significant experience having served as the Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the YMCA of Greater Houston, where she successfully executed national cause marketing campaigns and launched multi-media marketing initiatives designed to position the Y as a charity of choice. As Senior Director of Marketing & Communications for the YMCA of the USA, Ms. Kinney was responsible for pioneering integrated marketing and communications strategies supporting key brand pillars and the leaders of strategic programs within Y-USA. She also served as an inspirational catalyst exerting influence throughout the organization and was key to communications, implementation and evaluation of strategic programs delivered to more than 2,700 local Y’s across the country.

Ms. Kinney previously served as the Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the Philadelphia Freedom Valley YMCA, where she oversaw all internal and external communications for the organization. Her primary responsibilities included developing, managing and implementing comprehensive communications, marketing, public relations and social media strategies. She also provided leadership in shaping the image, positioning and visibility of the organization and was the primary media spokesperson.

Prior to joining the Y in 2006, Ms. Kinney held positions in both the private sector and non-profit arena. She was the PR & Marketing Manager for Tasty Baking Company, Director of Public Relations for the Southeastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Red Cross, and served as News Assignment Editor for 6ABC in Philadelphia, PA.

Ms. Kinney holds a bachelor’s degree in Communications from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and a master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Springfield College in Springfield, MA. Ms. Kinney is also an adjunct professor at Springfield College.
