Tony Shi

Tony Shi has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Tony is currently working at UniUni as the VP of Software Development since February 2023. Prior to this, they were the Director of Software Engineering at UniUni from October 2021 to February 2023.

Before joining UniUni, Tony worked at PNI Digital Media Ltd as a Technical Development Manager from July 2018 to October 2021. In this role, they managed and led five Agile development teams, focusing on recruitment, performance management, coaching/mentoring, and implementing software development best practices.

Tony also served as the Director of Engineering at Lendified from April 2017 to May 2018. Here, they led teams in Dev, QA/Test Automation, DevOps, and Data Scientist, and developed technical strategies for product development, QA/Test Automation, and DevOps.

From August 2009 to January 2017, Tony worked at Absolute Software as a Software Development Manager. During their tenure, they built and managed a highly productive Dev team, established team rules, coding standards, code review standards, unit test standards, and deployment processes.

Tony's work experience also includes a role as Director of Software Development at Taxnic Software Systems from August 2007 to August 2009 and as a Senior Software Developer at Best Buy Canada from June 2005 to August 2007. Tony also worked as a Senior Software Developer at TAP Solutions from September 2002 to June 2005, where they worked on various projects related to security consolidation, data management, and global security master servers.

Prior to that, Tony worked as a Senior Software Developer at Stockgroup Media Inc. from March 2000 to September 2002.

Throughout their career, Tony has consistently demonstrated leadership skills, technical expertise, and a dedication to implementing best practices in software development.

Tony Shi has a diverse education history. In 2012, they began studying Advanced Java Development at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, which they completed in 2014. In more recent years, Tony has pursued further education in leadership and management. Tony obtained a Certificate of Specialization in Leadership & Management from Harvard Business School Online in 2022. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including a Certificate in Management Essentials from Harvard Business School Online in January 2023, a Certificate in Leadership Principles from Harvard Business School Online in October 2022, and a Certificate in Power and Influence for Positive Impact from Harvard Business School Online in July 2022. Tony has also pursued technical training, earning certifications such as Application Security and Secure Coding Training course in .NET from Codebashing in March 2019 and Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) from Scrum Alliance in April 2019. Tony further expanded their knowledge with certifications from Scaled Agile, Inc., including Certified SAFe 4 DevOps Practitioner in March 2020 and Certified SAFe 4 Agilist in January 2019.
